After the game against Panathinaikos which kept Fenerbahce on top of the EuroLeague standings, coach Dimitris Itoudis talked about the incident between Ergin Ataman and Sarunas Jasikevicus.

With Ataman asking for an apology from Jasikevicius for accusing Efes of filming in secret Barcelona’s last practice before the game, Itoudis took a stance as the president of the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board.

“First of all, I would like to say that I am very happy about the existence of the EuroLeague Head Coaches board”, said Itoudis.

“Our primary goal is to spread widely and ensure that all coaches in Europe join us. Afterward, we want to expand to different geographies, especially in the Asian continent. I am very happy to be collaborating with great head coaches in Europe during this process”.

And after his initial statement, Itoudis addressed the incident explaining that he will contact both sides hoping for a quick resolution: “I haven’t had the opportunity to talk about the issue and analyze the situation with Ergin (Ataman) and Saras (Jasikevicius) yet. Of course, I will meet with them as soon as possible and try to learn more about the subject. We are adults and each of us works in established clubs. We will discuss this issue among ourselves as soon as possible and try to strengthen our relations. People should not forget the emotional factor in this sport. I did not witness the event and I do not have detailed information about what happened, I will try to have more information on the subject.”
