The Euroleague is facing one of the most important moments of its 23 years of existence. As Mundo Deportivo and RAC1 have learned, the teams that own EuroLeague must decide during this month of March if they approve the entry into the Dubai business, which offers a contribution of 150 million euros in six years but which in return requires having a team in the competition and the organization of two Final Four (2025 and 2029), among other conditions.

The evaluation of the Dubai proposal is the only item on the agenda of the meeting of the Euroleague Board, made up of the 13 owner clubs, which will take place during the second half of this month.

Contacts between those responsible for the Dubai project and the Euroleague go back more than a year but have increased in recent months, to the point that a delegation from the top management and representatives of the 13 owner clubs (Barca, Real Madrid, Baskonia, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Anadolu Efes, Fenerbahce, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Zalgiris, Armani Milan, CSKA Moscow, Bayern Munich, and ASVEL Villeurbanne) visited Dubai last October to learn more about their potential new partner.

Heading the Dubai project is Abdullah All Nabbodah, owner of the Dubai Basketball Club and one of the richest men in the country. Per the same report the executives who are carrying out a good part of the negotiation in his name are the Bosnian Dejan Kamenjasevic and the Serbian Djordje Djokovic, brother of the tennis player Novak Djokovic, and the initiative has the support of the Sheikh of the United Arab Emirates.
