EuroLeague Regular Season draws record-breaking attendance

A new record in average attendance was announced by Euroleague Basketball on Friday.

A total of 2,668,148 fans attended the games of the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season for a new record of 8,748 per game. The previous record of 8,676 people in attendance per game held from the 2019-20 season and through the coronavirus pandemic and attached limitations due to health and safety regulations across home venues of EuroLeague clubs.

Euroleague Basketball presented the average attendance of 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20 seasons compared to the most recent edition of Europe’s top-tier club continental competition.

Zalgiris and Maccabi played home games at 96% capacity, while two more teams went over 90%, and more than half scored crowds of at least 80%. Partizan Mozzart Bet led the league in overall attendance, with 17,763 spectators per game while playing in front of 88% capacity.

Six of the eight teams reaching the Playoffs also fit in the Top 10, including five of the top six averaging over 10,000 fans per game.

Moving on from the Regular Season to the Playoffs, the top eight rolls into the next stage with Game 1 of the four best-of-five series scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. AS Monaco facing Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, Real Madrid opposite Partizan Mozzart Bet, FC Barcelona paired with Zalgiris, and Olympiacos versus Fenerbahce Beko shape the matchups of the Quarterfinals.
