A new era in Munich has begun, with Pablo Laso on the bench of the German powerhouse. Before adding new pieces to the roster, the management has already started to make moves regarding familiar faces, as the Bavarian side officially welcomed back both Danko Brankovic and Nelson Weidemann.

The former is a 23-year-old Croatian center, who impressed most in the last season spent in the ABA League with Mega, averaging 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 63.0% from the field. He was a teammate with Matej Rudan, another loan player from Bayern, who will now join Zan Mark Sisko in the ACB League with Rio Breogan.

“After his solid development in the demanding Adriatic League, we warmly welcome Danko to our team. He has made significant improvements in terms of physicality and technique, and will provide an additional dimension to our frontcourt”, Daniele Baiesi commented on the Croatian center’s return.

Nelson Weidemann, instead, spent the past two seasons in Chemnitz after playing first in Bamberg and then in Göttingen, always on loan from Bayern. In 2022-23, he had 8.8 points and 2.8 assists per game, leading his team to the BBL Playoffs and earning the call from German national team head coach Gordon Herbert to make his debut in late February.

“Nelson has deliberately completed several years at different clubs with the aim of eventually returning to us and enriching our team. We had planned his journey together, and this path has truly paid off. We are thrilled to have one of our guys back”, Bayern Munich’s sporting director said about the 24-year-old German playmaker.
