Spanis point guard Ricky Rubio denied that he is set to return to Barcelona next summer, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

According to the report the Spanish national team member has spoken with club legend and GM Juan Carlos Navarro and agreed upon his return to Barcelona.

However, Rubio tweeted the following: “… sources close to Ricky Rubio tell me that Mundo Deportivo is lying. But still, my source is not as reliable as yours 😉”

A product of Joventut Badalona, Ricky Rubio already played for Barca between 2009 and 2011, being one of the team members that lifted the 2010 Euroleague in Paris.

In the summer of 2011, he leaped to the NBA, where he has played the last twelve seasons in the Minnesota Timberwolves (2011-17 and 2020-21), Utah Jazz (2017-19), Phoenix Suns (2019-20), and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ricky himself already said a few days ago that his time in the NBA is ending and that in the future his idea is to return home to play here for the last years of his career.

However, he is not confirming that he has a deal with his former club. However, if that happens, within a year Barça will have Ricky Rubio, Joel Parra, Álex Abrines, Juancho Hernangómez, and Willy Hernangómez on the roster, creating a solid Spanish core.
