Unicaja Malaga didn’t show any mercy to Dinamo Banco Di Sardegna Sassari, got the 77-65 win and with a home win against CSKA Moscow next week they will finished on top of the standings in Group D.
Jamar Smith with 20 points and 4-on-5 threes led the scoring for the winners who had the lead from the first quarter and never lost the control of the game. By half time Unicaja had a nine points advantage (48-39) and the hosts couldn’t get back in the game. Sassari, which remains the only team in Euroleague without a win, lost the battle in the paint with the Spaniards having a 34-20 advantage.
Joe Alexander with 19 points, Jarvis Varnado with 16 points and Marquez Haynes with 13 tried to get things done for the Italians. On the other side, Smith had a lot of help by Richard Hendrix (16 p.) and Mindaugas Kuzminskas (14 p.) and of course the quality difference between the two teams was evident on the court.
