After losing against Valencia in what was considered a high-risk match, Maccabi Tel Aviv has traveled to Athens, where they will face Panathinaikos in EuroLeague Round 4, in OAKA. Due to the complicated and challenging ongoing situation, however, things won’t be settled as usual.

With an official press release on its official website, Panathinaikos announced the security measures ahead of the clash with the yellow-and-blue Israeli side. First of all, “the doors of OAKA will open 2.5 hours before the start of the match”, and “since the checks will be strict, we urge our fans to go to the stadium at least 2 hours before the start of the match to avoid their own inconvenience, showing their ticket without delay. At the same time, they must sit in the seat indicated on their ticket”.

Moreover, “There will be strict pre-checks with barriers and 3 zones”, while “No fan will be allowed into the stadium without a ticket and will need to bring an ID or passport for identification”, and “Fans will not be able to bring motorcycle helmets and backpacks into the stadium”. Finally, the Greens said that they “support the team only with our voice. Under no circumstances do we use laser devices and smoke generators, as the risk of punishment is high”.

Coming off two away losses against Valencia and Fenerbahce, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Panathinaikos are respectively standing at 1-1 and 1-2 at the beginning of this year’s EuroLeague Regular Season.
