Sarunas Jasikevicius is back! After parting ways with Barcelona last summer, he has officially taken over at Fenerbahce, following the Turkish side’s decision to part ways with Dimitris Itoudis.

According to the press release from Istanbul, the former Zalgiris and Barcelona coach has signed a deal until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Fenerbahce finds itself in a challenging position in the EuroLeague, having lost six of its last seven matches and currently holding the 12th spot with a 6-7 score. In the Basketball Super League, they recently suffered two consecutive defeats, including a road loss against the injury-plagued Anadolu Efes.

Despite the anticipation surrounding Coach Dimitris Itoudis, who took the helm in the summer of 2022, Fenerbahçe has yet to taste championship success under his guidance.

In the previous EuroLeague season, the yellow-dark blue squad secured a playoff berth but faced elimination in the semi-finals of the Basketball Super League at the hands of Anadolu Efes.

Sarunas Jasikevicius commenced his head coaching career with Zalgiris Kaunas, achieving a notable feat by reaching the Final Four in the EuroLeague with the Lithuanian team. After joining Barcelona in 2020, the seasoned coach clinched victory in the Spanish League and Spanish Cup twice during his tenure with Barca, participating in all three EuroLeague Final Fours.
