The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague resuming regular-season games following the midseason break can be combined with Ricky Rubio returning to action with FC Barcelona.

Team captain Alex Abrines revealed Rubio’s plan during an appearance on the podcast Tu diras.

“It is an idea in his head,” he mentioned about Rubio playing in Round 27 of the EuroLeague’s Regular Season on March 1.

Rubio, 33, possibly joining the senior national team of Spain in the upcoming international window and featuring for the team coached by Sergio Scariolo would resume his professional career after taking a break to focus on his mental health. He was called up by the La Roja for the contests versus Latvia in Zaragoza and Belgium in Charleroi on February 22 and 26, respectively, to tip off Group C of the 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers.

“It is a family. He will be surrounded by friends, not only colleagues,” Abrines described the welcoming situation in the national team.

A few days after potential outings at the international level, Barca welcomes AS Monaco in Palau Blaugrana. At 18-8 in Europe’s premier club continental competition, a win against La Roca Team would strengthen the grip on the second seed of the playoff bracket.

Returning to the Catalonia powerhouse after 13 years in the NBA, Rubio recently inked a contract until the end of the 2023-24 season without significant obligations regarding his playing status. His last appearance was in the 2023 NBA Playoffs with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
