Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman said that he’s uncertain whether center Mathias Lessort will be able to participate in the EuroLeague playoffs. The French big man is recovering from a fracture fibula injury he suffered in December.

“I’m not sure about his return,” Ataman said after the away win of Panathinaikos over AS Monaco that secured homecourt advantage for his team. “I hope that we will advance to the Final Four. If we advance to the Final Four I think that 90 percent he’ll be in the Final Four. Regarding the playoffs, I can’t say much things right now because there are 20 days until then.”

The initial estimations on Lessort’s recovery were that he could be back in action in four months. The EuroLeague playoffs are beginning on April 22, exactly four months and three days after the French player got hurt on December 19 during a home game vs. Baskonia.

Lessort, a two-time All-EuroLeague First Team center in 2023 and 2024, was averaging 13.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists over 26:34 minutes in the EuroLeague before his injury.
