Bayern Munich earned their right to face Real Madrid in the latest game scheduled in the Play-Ins to potentially make their way into the EuroLeague Playoffs for the series against Olympiacos.
However, they won’t have on board for tonight’s clash the second-best scorer of the whole competition, Carsen Edwards. The American guard will miss today’s game and the following weeks of action.
Bayern’s sensational player won’t be available due to a back injury, as officially announced by the German club. Before today, he was averaging 20.5 points per game, only behind Kendrick Nunn (21.3).
It was a bittersweet Friday for Carsen Edwards, who was also included in the All-EuroLeague First Team alongside guards TJ Shorts and Kendrick Nunn, and forwards Sasha Vezenkov and Nigel Hayes-Davis.
“Carsen [Edwards] had an outstanding EuroLeague season, he absolutely deserves this great honor,” Bayern Munich’s head coach Gordon Herbert touched on the news.
Before coming to Munich in the summer of 2023, the American guard made his way to Europe by signing for one year with Fenerbahce. Things didn’t really work out at best for him in Istanbul.
