Barcelona and Monaco will now square off against each other in Game 5 of their best-of-five series in the EuroLeague Playoffs following both teams won back-to-back games at home.

In the post-game press conference, Vassilis Spanoulis emphasized the criteria used by referees in the second half. “We played great defense, they scored 44 points in the second half, and 22 points from free throws – that’s the game, that’s the criteria,” he commented.

“We fought hard, but in the second half, there was a different criteria,” he said previously in the post-game flash interviews. ” It’s not my job, my job is to prepare the team for the fifth game,” he added.

“My job is to prepare the team. For us, it’s wild, I think Barcelona fans and the coach put a lot of pressure. This is also their job, and that’s it. I can’t complain about this, I only have to see basketball things. I’m a coach and I care only about basketball. It’s not my job to criticize this, for sure, it’s strange.”

Heading to Game 5, he spoke about the different momentum in the series. “Momentum doesn’t change, nothing changes. This is a Playoffs series. I’ve been in this sport for a long time, I played a lot of great games as a player,” he also reflected.

“This is Playoffs, I was a lot of times at 2-2. We have to be more relaxed, because shooting good shots with 21% from three-point, with 19 turnovers… You can’t win a basketball game. I hope to be better on Tuesday to win this game.”

“We just talked, it’s between me and him. We have great respect for each other,” he also commented when asked about what he said to Joan Penarroya at the end of the game.
