The EuroLeague season ended for Anadolu Efes. The next goal is winning the Turkish BSL, and the club’s sporting director, Ismail Şenol, talked about what the future holds for the team.
During an interview with Levent Yavuz and Ali Emre Dedeoğlu of HT Spor Şenol addressed pretty much every report about the club, starting with the possibility of Vasilije Micic returning.
Considering the possible price tag of such a move, this will not be easy: “We’re in contact with Vasilije Micic, but it won’t be easy to make him an offer that fits our budget. We like Vasa, he’ll come to Istanbul at the end of May. He’s turning 32 next year, so it’s only natural that he’s thinking about the most important contract of his career. Due to the new financial fair play rules, it won’t be easy for us to make him an offer, and we won’t be able to enter a bidding war…”
The next big question is the future of coach Luca Banchi, which is also not decided yet: “Our president and the players are both happy with Banchi. The option is mutual at the end of the season. His contract is 1+1, but our goal right now is the championship.”
