Claudio Coldebella officially confirmed as new Maccabi GM

Italian former player turned executive Claudio Coldebella is officially the new general manager of Maccabi, as the Israeli club announced.

Per the press release: “Claudio Coldebella has been appointed general manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club. The former basketball player (56), who earned titles in Italy and Greece and held the GM position at several European clubs, will be the new head of management. 

Coldebella most recently served as the general manager of Reggiana (Reggio Emilia) of the Italian league. Before that, he held the position at Caserta, Treviso, Varese, and Unics Kazan, where he assembled a formidable squad that displayed great potential in the Euroleague before the suspension of the Russian teams.

As a player, Coldebella was known as a combative and frantic guard who never gave up. He faced Maccabi many times and wore the uniform of Virtus Bologna, AEK Athens, PAOK Thessaloniki, and Olimpia Milano. He won three Italian league titles and a cup, reached the Euroleague final with AE,K and won the Greek Cup with PAOK. After retiring, he worked for two years as an assistant coach at Milan.

Claudio Coldebella was born on June 25, 1968, in Castelfranco Veneto in northeastern Italy. He began playing for the modest Mestre and Desio, and in 1989 joined Virtus Bologna. That same year, he also made his debut for the senior Italian team, with which he won the silver medal at EuroBasket 1997. “
