The rivalry between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos Aktor, and a possible boost to the roster of the Greens with Jonas Valanciunas, fell shy of overall benefit in the opinion of Evan Fournier.
In a Q&A on his X account, the 32-year-old winger of the Reds welcomed several inquiries on Sunday, including recent news about the eternal rival looking to secure the services of the 33-year-old Lithuanian center.
“I don’t know if he will go to Panathinaikos, but I hope he does,” wrote Fournier, spending time on social media during his vacations, “Been playing against Jonas since we were 15. Great guy. Great player. Great for the league. Everyone wins.”
The session also featured NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo seeking a comment on his younger brother Kostas Antetokounmpo penning a two-year contract with Olympiacos.
Last September, before the 2024-25 campaign, Fournier signed a two-year contract with the Reds, after 723 NBA appearances between 2012 and 2024.
Introducing himself to the EuroLeague, he recorded 37 appearances, including 36 starts with the team coached by Giorgos Bartzokas. The native of Saint-Maurice averaged 16.1 points, 2.6 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game. His side ranked first in the Regular Season reached the Final Four after knocking out Real Madrid in the Playoffs, but settled third in Abu Dhabi.
Packing 9.4 points, 3.2 assists, 2.1 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest over 30 appearances in the latest edition of Greece’s Stoiximan GBL, he was crowned league champion.
