Zalgiris Kaunas has been one of the most active clubs on the transfer market thus far in the whole EuroLeague, and today was no exception in such a hectic schedule for the Lithuanians.
The club officially announced the contract extensions for both Dovydas Giedraitis and Laurynas Birutis, who will stay with the team, respectively, until the end of the 2026-27 season and for another year. The club exercised the two players’ options in their contracts.
The defensive specialist guard won’t be able to play since the start of the upcoming season, as he underwent wrist surgery and will have to spend five months away from the court.
Dovydas Giedraitis put up 5.8 points and 1.9 assists in the EuroLeague, while Laurynas Birutis had 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in the European competition.
Both were part of the winning team coached by Andrea Trinchieri that managed to beat Rytas Vilnius 3-2 in the LKL Finals. Talking about the Lithuanian league, where he averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, Laurynas Birutis was named to the league’s Best Starting Five for the third year in a row.
