Talking about Kendrick Nunn, Lonnie Walker IV explained his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate during the 2022-23 season and opponent in the 2024-25 edition of EuroLeague influenced his decision to return to Europe’s premier club continental competition and join Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv, after last season’s spell with Zalgiris.
The 27-year-old American guard praised Nunn for his overall impact on how fellow former NBA players consider their EuroLeague options.
“It all really started because of Kendrick Nunn. He’s one of the pioneers of this all, as far as Americans feeling or seeing more comfortably coming over here. He’s shown that it’s possible,” said to EuroLeague Basketball the veteran of 361 NBA games, stretching from the Lakers to the San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, and Philadelphia 76ers.
“When you have a player like that, it’s kind of just a domino effect. I came next up in line. Now you have more and more players, as far as Americans coming in now. So, I just try to be my best as far as answering questions the best I can, and making them understand the difference between the NBA and the EuroLeague,” he added.
“We still talk about stuff. He’s a great guy. I am blessed to have on my side,” concluded Walker, referring to his lasting relationship with Nunn.
Introducing himself to the EuroLeague, the former Miami standout averaged 13.6 points per game over 19 appearances, including 15 starts, with the Kaunas outfit.
