Zvezda crushed the European champion in Istanbul

Nothing has gone right for Crvena Zvezda this year. The Serbian team recorded two opening losses, then after failing in the ABA League, their mission ended with Ioannis Sfairopulos, and Tomislav Tomovic got the chance, who debuted as the head coach in Istanbul.

However, none of this hindered Red Star, which defeated the current European champion Fenerbahçe in the largest city in Turkey with a score of 86-81.

The most efficient in the winning team was Chima Moneke, who played a masterful duel with 20 points and 12 rebounds. On his debut, Donatas Motiejunas was excellent with 13 points, showing he will be a significant reinforcement, and Tyson Carter added 15. For the hosts, Talen Horton Tucker scored 19 points, same as Bonzie Colson, while Mikael Jantunen added four less.

It seems that the shock therapy for the team from Belgrade has succeeded. Tomovic was seen as a temporary solution, but the former assistant to Sfairopulos showed quality and knowledge. Will he maybe lead the Serbian team in the rest of the season?

Red Star achieved its first win this season in three games played. Fenerbahce also has the same score, and it is clear that Jasikevicius, who led Fenerbahçe to the top of Europe last year, faces a tough task, especially without Nigel Hayes-Davis.

In the next round, Crvena zvezda will host Zalgiris, while Fenerbahçe will play against Dubai in front of their fans.
