Crvena Zvezda has parted ways with Ioannis Sfairopoulos following three consecutive defeats to start the 2025/26 season, and Saša Obradović will now take over from the Greek tactician.

As officially confirmed, Obradović returns to the Belgrade club’s bench after a brief spell in charge in 2020.

He also spent a significant part of his playing career with Crvena Zvezda, wearing the red-and-white jersey from 1987 to 1993, again in 1994, and from 1999 to 2000.

Obradović first took over as head coach at the start of the 2020/21 season, during the COVID-19 pandemic. His most recent club was AS Monaco, where he made history on multiple occasions before departing at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

According to the club, Obradović will hold his first practice with the team on Sunday and will make his official debut next Tuesday against Žalgiris Kaunas in the Belgrade Arena.

Crvena Zvezda recorded its first win after Sfairopoulos’s departure by defeating Fenerbahçe in Istanbul under assistant coach Tomislav Tomović. The team currently holds a 1–2 record in the EuroLeague and is 0–1 in the ABA League after losing to Zadar at home.
