Zalgiris Kaunas is one of the hottest teams in the Euroleague.
And in Round 5, they got a very comfortable win in one of the hottest arenas.
The Lithuanian team totally dominated Barça for a win at Palau Blaugrana 88-73.
Maodo Lo (20 points) and Deividas Sirvydis (14 points) were the away team’s top scorers. It is also worth noting that Nigel Williams-Goss left the match early due to what seems to be a hamstring injury.
Tomas Satoransky (11), Toko Shengelia (13), and Joel Parra (17) were Barça’s only players to score double digits.
All about Zalgiris
Right after the tip-off, it was crystal clear that Zalgiris was one step ahead.
Barça couldn’t hit a shot and had no way to stop Maodo Lo and Sylvain Francisco, who were perfectly reading the blaugrana defense and doing whatever they wanted.
The guests’ lead got as big as 18 (38-20), and it was only Joel Parra, with a great second quarter, who could send the game to halftime with Barça still in the game (52-39).
Even though it seemed that the game could be somehow interesting, Zalgiris Kaunas started the third quarter with a run that extended the lead to 23 (64-41) and basically sealed the deal for them, as they had no problem managing the lead.
