Zeljko Obradovic: “We are in trouble due to injuries and not signing players on time”

Partizan suffered an unexpectedly heavy defeat at home to Paris (83-101) in the sixth round of the EuroLeague.

In this match, the Serbian team was without the help of Carlik Jones and Shake Milton. Since the club still has not signed a second point guard, Duane Washington was the only playmaker in the black-and-white lineup.

After the game, coach Zeljko Obradovic spoke at the press conference, highlighting that the EuroLeague is tougher than the NBA in some things, and that the fact they did not sign players in time has led to the current crisis.

“The players are exhausted; the EuroLeague is in many aspects tougher than the NBA. They have only that competition, while we have several different ones – EuroLeague, ABA League, Cup, Super League. They don’t have time to recover, leading to injuries. We need to discuss the calendar; I don’t know where it’s heading and how it will affect injuries. I’m just talking about the calendar; we have a practice tomorrow that isn’t really a practice, and we have an opponent who will come fully prepared. The difference in quality is not in question, but motivation… We are traveling to Sofia on Tuesday, playing against Barcelona on Friday… To be competitive, you need to have a roster. We are in trouble due to injuries and because we didn’t manage to sign players on time.”

Partizan is now on 3-3 score, and will visit Hapoel in Sofia in the seventh round of the EuroLeague.
