Not only did Real Madrid beat Barcelona on the road, but newcomer Trey Lyles earned his EuroLeague wings.
The newcomer from the NBA registered a career high with 29 points – not only in the EuroLeague but also in the NBA and in the NCAA – in one of the most important games of the season, on the road against his new team’s traditional rival.
However, as he said in his flash interview after the game the point was not himself: “I am just glad we got the win, that’s the most important thing, my teammates were able to find me. I was able to make shots, so I have to continue to do that, and I am just happy we got the win”.
The point is that he already feels at home in Madrid: “I am fitting in well with the team, I have a good flow with the team, guys are really receptive to me in the team, so it helps out. I think I can play in a lot of different areas, and I think I show it tonight”.
Real Madrid is considered a EuroLeague contender, having so far just a 5-4 record, and that’s why point guard Facundo Campazzo hopes that this was not the best game of his team: “I hope not, we have a lot of room to improve and we have to keep working”.
Even the fact that this was the sixth win of Real Madrid over Barcelona in the last seven games between them doesn’t give him any comfort. As he added with a smile: “That kind of data, I am going to let it to you. We have to keep working; we have a new coach, new players. We are building something huge here, we are really happy to be part of Real Madrid, and make history”.
