Kenneth Faried landed in Athens to complete his move to Panathinaikos Aktor.
Following a Eurohoops report regarding a deal between the Manimal and the Greens, head coach Ergin Ataman confirmed his transfer on Saturday. On Sunday, the former NBA player and FIBA World Cup 2014 gold medalist with the United States arrived in the Greek capital.
After playing one game for the TSG GhostHawks in Taiwan’s P. LEAGUE+, his contract was bought out by the Greens, with the Greek powerhouse seeking a healthy option at the five position, since Omer Yurtseven (groin), Richaun Holmes (right knee), and Mathias Lessort (left leg) are all stuck on the injury list for at least a few more weeks.
Therefore, Faried is set to bounce back in the EuroLeague, following seven appearances with CSKA in 2021, and averaging 2.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest. His most recent European experience in Italy included ten Basketball Champions League games with Reggiana at the bottom end of the 2024-25 campaign.
His successful stint as a fan favorite at the Denver Nuggets, lasting from 2011 to 2018, is certainly the highlight of his career. From Morehead State, he was drafted with the 22nd overall pick in 2011 to launch his lengthy run with the Colorado franchise. Combined with his 2018-19 journey between the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets, he is a veteran of 496 appearances in the league.
Entering a two-game EuroLeague week with a 5-4 record, Ataman’s side resumes action in Round 10 of the Regular Season against Paris in Accor Arena on Tuesday.
Later this afternoon, the Greek team confirmed the signing of the center on a two-month contract.
