The mood was festive with Olympiacos getting a 23-9 lead over Zalgiris, and Keenan Evans stepped on the court against his former team, making his EuroLeague debut for the season.

Evans had already played in the Greek League against Karditsa; however, just after two minutes on the court, he sustained a new injury, which turned out to be a torn left Achilles tendon.

Screaming “no way”, Evans was helped off the court by his teammates and left immediately for the hospital to get examined.

The official injury update was announced after Olympiacos’ win over Zalgiris.

“There’s no unit of measure in bad luck, everything is part of life”, said a bit earlier Olympiacos coach Giorgos Bartzokas when asked about Evan’s injury in the press conference. “The truth is that obviously we are all very sad, we can’t enjoy the win, because this is something that affects us, we wait for the final diagnosis, which seems to be something serious”.
