The president of Euroleague Basketball, Dejan Bodiroga, met with the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens on Tuesday.

Their discussion included the Final Four 2026 of the EuroLeague, which will be held in Athens between May 22 and 24, to crown the next champion in Europe’s premier club competition.

Telekom Center Athens, the home of Panathinaikos Aktor, was announced as the Final Four venue in early September, marking the second season-ending tournament in the Greek capital following 2007.

With 11 out of a total of 38 games in the 2025-26 Regular Season, Greek EuroLeague participants, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, are tied with two other teams at 7-4, one game behind co-leaders Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet. Resuming action in Round 12, the Greens will welcome Dubai in Telekom Center Athens on Thursday, and the Reds get Paris in the Peace and Friendship Stadium, also known as SEF, on Friday.

Back in 2007, the first Final Four in Athens was held in OAKA, recently renamed to Telekom Center Athens, with Panathinaikos defeating Tau Ceramica in the Semifinals and CSKA in the Final to capture the fourth of seven EuroLeague championships in team history.

Greece previously hosted Final Fours at Thessaloniki’s PAOK Sports Arena in 2000 and Piraeus’ Peace and Friendship Stadium in 1993, with the top-tier league operated by FIBA. Panathinaikos and Limoges CSP, respectively, were the winners.

The most recent Final Four was held in Abu Dhabi, with Fenerbahce Beko claiming the title.
