Friday’s game between Virtus Bologna and Maccabi Tel Aviv at the PalaDozza will go ahead as scheduled, after local authorities confirmed that public safety conditions are met, per Corriere di Bologna.

The decision, announced by Mayor Matteo Lepore, follows the conclusion of the public order and safety committee in the Prefecture and multiple attempts by the mayor to find an alternative venue for the match.

While Mayor Lepore personally questioned whether conditions were safe, both the prefect and the police chief assured him that public order and citizen safety would be maintained.

I expressed my opposition, but I was told by the prefect and the Ministry of the Interior that the conditions for public safety are in place, so the game can proceed. I have to accept that,” Lepore said.

Virtus has a record of 5-6 after 11 games, while Maccabi has three wins and eight losses.
