Following a meeting between representatives of team management with the local deputy and acting mayor Lior Shapira and the head of the municipality’s sports authority, Ofir Wegman, Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv shared an update on the ongoing project to build a new home venue.

Addressing team supporters, the Israel club apologized for the slow progress, but added that the municipality relayed intentions for an investment of 1,500,000 NIS, about 400,000 euros, to cover startup costs for a modern, multipurpose sports hall with approximately 20,000 seats in a currently undetermined location to serve as the home of the Reds. The club requested another meeting with the participation of fan association representatives to discuss further details, which will be held within the next few weeks. Also, Hapoel recently submitted the latest bank guarantee, according to municipality requirements.

Upon completion of the process leading to a specific arena location over the next few months and up to February, the municipality will decide on the construction plans. The involved parties are also exploring other avenues to strengthen their relationship through the new home of Hapoel.

After winning the BKT EuroCup last season, the team coached by Dimitris Itoudis is currently navigating the first EuroLeague campaign in team history and leading the standings behind a 9-3 record. Due to security concerns, mainly stemming from the Gaza war, home fixtures have been played away from Israel since October 2023, but can perhaps return in December, according to a recent announcement of Euroleague Basketball.
