Game between Olympiacos and Fenerbahce postponed due to extreme weather

The Olympiacos – Fenerbahce match, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday as part of Round 14 of the EuroLeague, has been postponed.

The reason is bad weather and a severe storm in the capital of Greece, which forced the government to take precautionary measures for the safety of fan transfers.

However, as it was evident from images inside the arena, even if those kinds of measures were not taken, it’s highly unlikely that the game would have been played due to leaks inside the arena.

The postponement was confirmed by the club, which issued a short statement.

“Following a relevant decision by the Alternate Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Ioannis Vroutsis, today’s (04/12, 21:15) game against Fenerbahce, in the context of the 14th round of the Euroleague, was postponed.”

The game is expected to be played next week, while EuroLeague made the following statement: The EuroLeague Regular Season Round 14 game between Olympiacos and Fenerbahce has been suspended following a recommendation from the local government due to severe weather conditions affecting the area during today.

Euroleague Basketball will evaluate with the affected teams the best possible options to reschedule the game based on available dates. Further information will be released in the coming days.
