Partizan ended a run of three consecutive EuroLeague defeats in Round 14, with the Serbian team beating Bayern Munich 92–85.
However, for many fans the game in Belgrade felt very strange, because Zeljko Obradovic, who had been the club’s coach for the previous four years, was not on the bench. Instead, Mirko Ocokoljic took over coaching duties.
After the game, Bayern’s head coach Gordon Herbert also appeared at the press conference, where he spoke about Zeljko, but he also mentioned Ettore Messina, who had recently left Olimpia Milano.
“Personally, I think that he’s been a role model for a lot of people, coaches. I think it’s kind of sad situation for European basketball, to see both Zeljko and Messina leaving the same week.”
After the game in Belgrade, the teams are now tied in the standings, as both have five wins and nine losses.
