Achille Polonara continues to recover from the leukemia he battles every day. The Italian player, after emerging from a 10-day coma, was the star of a beautiful event for the country.
Polonara has been in charge of carrying the Olympic flame, which began its journey in Rome, for the 2026 Olympic Games to be held in Milan-Cortina.
As La Giornata Tipo reports, Achille happily walked through the city streets carrying the torch. “Anyway, it wasn’t as bad as a first workout. Now the ball is finally back in my hands, and I hope a bit of luck will be on my side“, said the player.
The former Fenerbahçe, Baskonia, and Virtus player continues to recover from leukemia, which has kept him off the track for the past few years. Last game Polonara played was in Legabasket against Armani Milan, on June 6.
The Winter Olympic Games will begin in Milan in February, and the torch will arrive in the city on February 6.
