The latest disciplinary sanctions of Euroleague Basketball were announced on Thursday.
Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet was hit with a fine, plus a possible future enforcement of limited capacity to one home game.
The penalties are linked to offensive chants toward FC Barcelona’s Kevin Punter and game officials during Round 14 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season last Friday.
Per the press release: “Euroleague Basketball has announced the following disciplinary decision pertaining to incidents that occurred in Round 14 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season.
Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade has been sanctioned with a fine of €8,000, and a game to be played at a limited 80% of its capacity, including the closing of specific sectors, for the offensive chants performed by the local fans towards visiting player (Kevin Punter), the referee(s) and to anyone associated with FC Barcelona on occasion of the game Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade – FC Barcelona, under Article 29.2.f) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code. The arena capacity limitation is conditionally suspended during the 2025-26 season in accordance with Article 8 of the Disciplinary Code, and will be executed in the event off the Club committing a new infringement of Article 29.1 f).”
Fellow EuroLeague outfit based in Belgrade, Partizan, was handed a similar sanction, including the possibility for limited capacity in a future home game, in late November.
In this week’s Round 15, Partizan and Zvezda are set to face each other in Belgrade Arena on Friday, carrying 5-9 and 9-5 records, respectively.
