Pascual on Kevin Punter’s 43-point masterpiece: “He reminded me of Juan Carlos Navarro”

On a night to remember for Barcelona and Kevin Punter, Xavi Pascual made a direct comparison with a club icon.

With 43 points, Punter registered the fourth-best scoring night in EuroLeague history; it was not only how many points he scored, but also when.

Punter took over a game that had three overtimes, delivering even when hope was seemingly lost.

And that’s what made things even more impressive, as coach Pascual said in the post game press-conference.

As Pascual said: “I’ve experienced that moment as if it was lost, and in those situations, a player has to step up. Today, he reminded me of Juan Carlos Navarro in the special moments.”

Just for the record, Nigel Hayes-Davis, with 50 points holds the record from March 2024, followed by Shane Larkin (49) on March 2019 and Sasha Vezenkov (45) on January 2025.
