Cameron Payne is Partizan’s newest signing. The former NBA player arrives in Belgrade to try to change the team’s dynamics.

The 14th pick of the NBA Draft arrived in Serbia this Monday, making it clear that he wants to be important from the beginning.

“I’m tired right now. I’m a little sleepy, but I’m really looking forward to everything that’s coming,” Payne told Meridiansport at Nikola Tesla Airport.

“It’s going to be a great experience. Honestly, I’m really ready to play basketball. I’ve been sitting at home, and I’m really eager to play. I’m just ready for it. I like being here now – to see the fans, the crowd, to get into the training room”, he added.

He also made it clear that he was waiting for an opportunity in the NBA.

As I said, that time I spent sitting at home was crucial… Of course, I wanted to wait for the NBA, but it took a while. I was just ready to get on the court and play basketball”, Payne said.

I talked to a few players. Duane, of course, he’s on the team now. I played with him in Phoenix. I also talked to one guy, I forgot his name, but he plays at Arizona State University and he used to play for Partizan. I also talked to him before coming. Everyone told me nice things about coming here. So I’m really looking forward to everything”, said at the Airport.

That was minutes after Washington broke the ABA League record with 48 points against Krka. “Unbelievable. That’s my man!”, he said.

When asked what he brings to Serbia, Cameron Payne had a message for Partizan fans: “Only wins. We always want to reach the final of the Euroleague. But first we have to start winning – that’s why I came!”.

“I’m a guy who draws energy from the environment. Watching the games online, they have a huge level of energy. I like to draw energy from that, so I’m looking forward to it. I think this is going to be a great year,” the guard concluded for Meridian Sport.
