Baskonia had lost all eight of their away games this season.
While Valencia Basket arrived as one of the most in-form teams in the competition.
As a result, a home victory seemed the most logical outcome… and that is exactly what happened.
Pedro Martínez’s side claimed a clear 91–81 win over the Basque outfit, who now sit at 6-12, to improve their own record to 12-6 and draw level with Panathinaikos and FC Barcelona as the main challengers to league leaders Hapoel Tel Aviv (13-5).
Matt Costello led the scoring for the hosts with 18 points, well supported by Kam Taylor and Jean Montero, who added 16 points apiece. For Baskonia, Eugene Omoruyi enjoyed his best spell under Galbiati, finishing with 17 points and five rebounds.
The visitors led the scoreboard only once in the entire game, briefly going up 3-5 in the opening quarter.
From that moment on, the pattern of the game was quickly established: total dominance by the home side.
As the minutes passed, the gap continued to grow, reaching a maximum of 22 points at 74–52 in the second half.
That margin proved insurmountable for Baskonia, that, despite their efforts, never had a real chance of claiming victory.
