French Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly has reportedly become a minority shareholder in French basketball club LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, joining a small group of investors close to owner Tony Parker.

Journalist Romain Molina, who reported on the news, notes that Gasly’s involvement comes at a crucial time for ASVEL.

The new investment is expected to help stabilize the club’s finances as it competes in both the EuroLeague and domestic competitions.

Financially, ASVEL has faced difficulties this season and was previously penalized by the EuroLeague for failing to meet the minimum expenditure requirements.

On the court, the French team is currently sitting at the bottom of the EuroLeague standings with a 5-13 record after 18 rounds.
