Fenerbahçe BEKO is adding the MVP of the Basketball Champions League group stage to their roster, as Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reported first, and Eurohoops sources confirm.
Silva emerged with AEK as one of the best big men in Europe outside of the EuroLeague, making a splash in the BCL and being mentioned as a target of Panathinaikos, Barcelona, and Partizan, among others.
However, it was Fenerbahçe that won the race, as the player had a EuroLeague buyout with AEK and utilized it.
The Greek team had offered a contract extension to the player, but the lure of joining the current EuroLeague champions and helping them defend their crown was too much to resist.
The 29-year-old averaged 14.8 points on 70 percent shooting from the field across his first five BCL games, with 8.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
He also turned a lot of heads when he scored 31 points against Olympiacos in the Greek league, helping AEK to be more than competitive in a tough road game.
