Ergin Ataman said few words in the EuroLeague flash interview, but all of them carried weight.
The Turkish coach mentioned Sasha Vezenkov, congratulating him while also talking about his team’s power forwards, who did not show up in the game.
“First of all, congratulations to Vezenkov, because he wanted to show that he is a great power forward. We didn’t have anyone in that position. Our own power forwards didn’t score a single point. Sasha took responsibility and scored 24 points,” Ataman said.
He then referred to the referees of the match as well.
“Congratulations also to the referees, who want to show that they are the best every time they come here. With this kind of officiating tonight, they could have a place in the final. Free throws were 18–28 today. I know EuroLeague will punish me for what I’m saying, but I congratulate them again. They didn’t take any influence. We tried to fight, but if you miss that many shots and rely on only one player, Kendrick Nunn, you can’t beat Olympiacos.”
