Zalgiris got it easy at home against Crvena Zvezda

Zalgiris recorded a win in Round 21 of the EuroLeague, defeating Crvena Zvezda on its home court with a 99-67 score.

The most effective player for the winning team was Azuolas Tubelis with 17 points, Sylvain Francisco added 15 with six assists and six rebounds, while Arnas Butkevicius added 12, the same as Maodo Lo.

One potential problem is the fact that Nigel Williams-Goss was injured after only three minutes of play.

On the other side, only Chima Moneke, with 18 points, scored in double figures for Sasa Obradovic’s team, which ended the double-game week with two defeats.

The job in Lithuania was practically done by Tomas Masiulis’s team already in the first half, which Crvena Zvezda, just like three days earlier against Valencia, played very poorly. Zalgiris reached a big +14 (26–12) after the first quarter, and that margin kept growing until the end of the game.

The visitors managed at one point to cut the deficit, but Zalgiris easily repelled that surge and in the end routinely brought the game to a close. To make things even better for the Lithuanians, they won by a bigger margin than they lost in the first game (88–79).

The Lithuanian giant now has a 12–9 record, and in the next round will play against Maccabi in Tel Aviv. On the other hand, Crvena Zvezda has 11 wins and 10 losses, and in six days will play away against Olimpia Milano.
