Virtus Bologna achieved a significant victory in Round 22 of the EuroLeague, defeating Dubai away with a score of 80-72.
Saliou Niang delivered an impressive performance, finishing the game with 17 points and 17 rebounds, while Carsen Edwards was more efficient with 21 points, many of which came in the tense final moments.
On the other side, Aleksa Avramovic led his team, which was once again without Dzanan Musa and Nate Mason. The Serbian scored 17 points, while Dwayne Bacon added 16 points and ten rebounds, but the rest of the players failed to make a significant impact.
From the start, it was evident that Dusko Ivanovic’s team could win in Dubai, which Virtus ultimately did, becoming only the second team, after Maccabi, to defeat Dubai on their home court.
The decision came in a tense finish, where it seemed the hosts might clinch the victory following Justin Anderson’s three-pointer (65-63). However, Virtus quickly turned the score around, with Edwards and Niang shining, Pajola hitting a crucial three-pointer, and the guests securing the win through effective free-throw shooting in the end.
Virtus Bologna now stands at an 11-11 record and will host Fenerbahce in the next round. On the other hand, Dubai has one win less and one more loss, and Jurica Golemac’s team will visit Barcelona in Round 23.
