The Belgrade side had been going through a historically rough stretch in the EuroLeague, suffering seven consecutive losses, but managed to turn things around on the road.

Partizan defeated Bayern Munich 67–63 at SAP Garden, and head coach Joan Peñarroya recorded his first EuroLeague victory since taking charge of the team.

We’re happy, because it was important to win on the road, and this is my first EuroLeague victory with Partizan — an important day,” the Spanish coach said at the post-game press conference.

He also offered a brief analysis of the game.

We knew we had to control the pace, and I think we did that well for all 40 minutes. In the first half, we had problems controlling the rebounding and our turnovers. They scored 21 points in that period off offensive rebounds and our mistakes. In the second half, we competed well, missed some open three-pointers, and again had turnovers — which once more proved to be an issue for us. In the end, it’s an important win, because Bayern have been playing very well in recent weeks,” Peñarroya concluded.

Partizan will remain in Munich, where they will face Hapoel Tel Aviv in EuroLeague Round 24, with the game set to be played at BMW Park.
