There was only one EuroLeague game on the schedule this Wednesday… but it was undoubtedly an extremely thrilling one.
Fenerbahçe came away with a victory on their visit to Virtus Bologna, with a final score (85-80) that shows how evenly matched a game which ended up being almost a duel between two stars.
Talen Horton-Tucker delivered the best EuroLeague performance of his career. With 28 points and a spectacular 4-for-5 from three-point range, he set new personal records in points, made three-pointers, and efficiency rating.
Horton-Tucker’s display alone was enough to counter the show put on by Carsen Edwards, who shone for the home side with 35 points.
It wasn’t just the volume of points from Fenerbahce forward that mattered, but their timing as well.
He scored five consecutive points to make it 75–79, a crucial stretch for Jasikevičius’ team, which, with 31 seconds remaining, held a lead they managed to protect until sealing the win, though not without suffering.
After an exchange of free throws, Virtus had the ball in their hands with a chance to send the game to overtime, but neither of Carsen Edwards’ two three-point attempts went in. With those misses, the home team’s hopes of extra time came to an end.
