Monaco suffered a clear defeat in their visit to Real Madrid’s court, a 90–78 scoreline that does not fully reflect what was seen over the forty minutes, and Vassilis Spanoulis had no problem assessing the game with the sincerity that characterizes him.
“In 15 months that I am in this team, this was the worst first half. But on the other side, congratulations for the pride and character they showed in the second half.”
The Greek coach also spoke about the most striking statistical aspect: the huge difference in free throws between the two teams.
“There is a big difference in free throws, we didn’t lose because of this, but 35 to 10 in such a physical game is huge. We lost because we were very, very bad in the first half.”
Spanoulis also wanted to congratulate Real Madrid for a great victory. “They are in great shape right now, if not the best, one of the best teams in Europe right now. They found it and they have six consecutive wins”.
