Olympiacos, out of nowhere, announced on Friday the acquisition of Cory Joseph.
The 34-year-old Canadian guard, who has played 16 years in the NBA with 953 games, will wear the “red and white” jersey for the next one and a half years.
Cory Joseph started his career in 2011 with the San Antonio Spurs, where he played for four seasons and won an NBA ring in 2014.
He spent two years each with the Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and Detroit Pistons, before moving to the Golden State Warriors in 2023. His last NBA team was the Orlando Magic, and now he’ll try himself in Europe.
In December, Joseph signed a contract with Monaco but did not get a chance to debut for the team in the EuroLeague. Monaco had a transfer ban from the elite competition, which they couldn’t resolve, so Joseph had to find a new team.
There was interest by Aris BC, which competes in the EuroCup, for his case, however, when Olympiacos came knocking, it was a no-brainer.
After one month of practices in Monaco, Joseph had the chance to sign with a EuroLeague contender. He signed the deal, and he can make his debut with the Greek club next week.
