Due to discomfort in his left knee, Matt Costello is set to sit out at least one Valencia game, specifically against Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv in Roig Arena on Thursday.

A few hours before tipoff for Round 25 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season, the Taronges updated the status of 32-year-old forward/center.

Per the press release: “Valencia Basket player Matt Costello will be sidelined for the upcoming game of our men’s team due to discomfort in his left knee.

His return to training with the rest of his teammates will depend on how his recovery progresses.”

Over 23 appearances this season in the EuroLeague, including five starts for head coach Pedro Martinez, Costello averaged a team-high 4.3 rebounds per contest to go with 7.4 points, 0.9 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. His efforts helped build a 15-9 record, which is tied with AS Monaco in sixth place, the lowest seed leading directly to the Playoffs 2026.

The Michigan State product resurfaced in Europe’s premier club competition with Valencia, after recording 94 appearances with Baskonia between 2021 and 2024. Back in his 2017-18 journey, he also logged four games played in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs.

All his teammates are healthy heading to the meeting with Maccabi. On the opposite side, with the Yellows at 10-14 and four games away from the Play-In Showdown zone, Lonnie Walker IV (shoulder), John DiBartolomeo (groin), and Zach Hankins (ankle) are unavailable for head coach Oded Kattash.
