After a long losing streak, Anadolu Efes bounced back with a perfect EuroLeague double-week, recording back-to-back victories against Valencia and Žalgiris.
Laso’s side delivered a huge fourth quarter against the Lithuanian team in Round 27, improving their record to 8–19 and climbing off the bottom of the standings.
Speaking at the postgame press conference, the Spanish tactician shared his thoughts on his team’s mindset following two EuroLeague wins and offered a memorable response when asked about confidence:
“I’ve been in Turkey for a month now. If there’s a shop here that sells confidence, please tell me where it is. The moment I see it, I’ll go in and buy some confidence. I’m 58 years old and I’ve never seen such a shop in Spain. So if winning is going to give us confidence, I’ll be very happy. Of course, winning always paints a much better picture than losing. Honestly, writing this season off as ‘over’ would not be fair — first and foremost to our fans. It’s only early February. We still have EuroLeague, Turkish Cup and Turkish League games ahead of us. That’s why the only thing on my mind right now is the league game we’re playing on Sunday,” Laso said.
