Mathias Lessort’s recovery journey began on December 19, 2024, when he suffered a serious injury that stunned Panathinaikos fans.
The Martinique-born center underwent surgery a day later to repair a fractured fibula and briefly returned at the EuroLeague Final Four in Abu Dhabi in May 2025, though the comeback proved short-lived.
After undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle in November 2025, the French international has now completed his comeback, returning to full team practice on March 4, 2026.
Lessort completed the full training program as Panathinaikos prepares for another clash with Olympiacos, this time at the Peace and Friendship Stadium for Round 30 of the EuroLeague regular season.
Head coach Ergin Ataman had previously indicated that Lessort would rejoin practices around this period, and his return to the game-day roster is expected soon, though the process will be handled carefully without rushing.
Meanwhile, Richaun Holmes and Alexandros Samodurov were absent from practice. The 32-year-old American center is dealing with sinusitis, while Samodurov is recovering from inflammation in the forefoot of his right foot.
