AS Monaco officially announced that the club and Yoan Makoundou have parted ways by mutual agreement, after the French forward expressed his desire to leave the team.
Makoundou, who joined Monaco in 2022, struggled to establish himself with the Roca Team. Injuries limited his opportunities this season, and he appeared in just five EuroLeague games. His last appearance came on February 8 in a domestic league game against Chalon, where he played only seven minutes.
The former Cholet player won the 2023 French Cup and Betclic ELITE title with Monaco but never fully secured a role in the rotation. After loan spells at Buducnost Podgorica and Turk Telekom Ankara, he returned to the club last summer, though the situation did not improve.
With his contract originally running until June 30, 2026, Makoundou is now free to sign with another team, although he will not be eligible to play in the EuroLeague for the remainder of this season.
