Braian Angola named Round 30 MVP

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne’s Braian Angola claimed EuroLeague Round 30 MVP honors after leading his team to a dramatic 91-88 road win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul, only ASVEL’s second away victory this season.

Angola’s 26-point performance came with a PIR of 28, the highest among winning players this round, in just his seventh EuroLeague appearance.

He shot efficiently from all areas, hitting 4-of-7 two-pointers, 3-of-6 threes, and 9-of-11 free throws, while adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and drawing 9 fouls. This is Angola’s first MVP of the Round award, making him the second ASVEL player to earn the honor this season, after Bastien Vautier in Round 18, also against Efes.

Saben Lee of Efes posted the round’s highest PIR with 29 but could not avoid defeat. Lee scored 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and added 4 assists. Other standout performers included Chima Moneke of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, who recorded a 28 PIR in an 80-85 home loss to FC Bayern Munich with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Carsen Edwards of Virtus Bologna and Moses Wright of Zalgiris Kaunas each had PIRs of 27. Edwards scored 32 points in a 92-84 road loss to Real Madrid, while Wright posted 20 points and 9 rebounds in Zalgiris’s 91-87 defeat at Valencia Basket.

Round 30 individual highs featured Walter Tavares of Real Madrid with 5 blocks, Alen Smailagic of Virtus and Alan Dokossi of Paris Basketball with 11 rebounds each, Mike James of Monaco and Codi Miller-McIntyre of Crvena Zvezda with 8 assists each, and Mamadi Diakite of Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz collecting 4 steals.

Top performers in season-long stats include Nadir Hifi of Paris leading in scoring with 19.5 points per game, Nikola Milutinov of Olympiacos averaging 7.3 rebounds, Codi Miller-McIntyre with 6.9 assists per game, Aleksa Avramovic leading with 1.5 steals, and Walter Tavares with 2.0 blocks per game.
