Per the press release: “Euroleague Basketball’s One Team and Motorola continued their commitment to social impact through sport by hosting a new stop of the Bouncing for Good initiative at Scuola Primaria Luciana Sassatelli in Castel San Pietro Terme, near Bologna. The event brought together 58 fifth-grade students for a day of activities focused on respect, self-care, effort, teamwork, and fun, using basketball as a tool for learning and connection.
Organized as part of Euroleague Basketball’s social responsibility initiative, One Team, the event was held with the support of Virtus Segafredo Bologna and featured One Team Ambassadors Daniel Hackett and Saliou Niang, who joined the students throughout the afternoon. The school itself is an active participant in Virtus Segafredo Bologna’s One Team program, further strengthening the link between sport and community values.
Earlier in the day, students took part in an interactive educational workshop led by One Team coaches. Through a series of engaging activities – including team challenges, memory games, and creative exercises such as the “Perfect Ball Painting” activity – the children explored key values such as respect, self-care, effort, teamwork, and fun, while also connecting basketball with everyday life lessons.
The day concluded with a special donation ceremony in which basketball equipment was presented to the school, helping ensure that students will continue to have access to sport and physical activity in the future. After the handover, Hackett and Niang spent time on the court with the children, sharing basketball drills, signing autographs, and reinforcing the importance of teamwork, respect, and perseverance.
Scuola Primaria Luciana Sassatelli plays an important role in its community in Castel San Pietro Terme, a town that has seen growing diversity in recent years as families from different cultural backgrounds settle in the area. The school welcomes children from a variety of countries and backgrounds, including students with disabilities, and places a strong emphasis on integration, inclusion, and equal opportunities through education and sport.
Through initiatives like Bouncing for Good, Euroleague Basketball One Team and Motorola continue to work together to create meaningful opportunities for young people across Europe, empowering the next generation through the positive values of basketball.”
