Partizan may no longer have a realistic chance of advancing in the EuroLeague this season, but that did not stop the Serbian side from staying competitive until the final buzzer.
Joan Peñarroya’s team recorded its 10th victory of the season and only its third on the road by defeating Virtus in Bologna 88–82.
Isaac Bonga stole the show with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds for a game-high PIR of 34, while Carlik Jones scored crucial baskets down the stretch and finished as Partizan’s leading scorer with 19 points. Dylan Osetkowski contributed 13 points, while Tonye Jekiri added 10.
On the other side, Carsen Edwards led the scoring as usual with 19 points, but it was Mouhamet Diouf who posted the highest PIR for Virtus (20), recording 14 points and six rebounds. Matt Morgan added 18 points, while Virtus lost Luca Vildoza to injury in the first half.
It is also worth noting that talented Matteo Balocchi made his EuroLeague debut for Virtus.
The Bologna side eventually fell to 13–18 and now finds itself in a very difficult position in the race for the Play-In spots.
